Having navigated the complex transition out of the public sector over 10 years ago, into thriving entrepreneurship, all of my work is about helping public sector women who stand where I once stood.

My Background

My Background

Hello, I’m Sarah, the founder of Sarah Clein Consultancy and Coaching, and my journey is probably not so different from yours.

Once a high-flying public sector professional, my life was a textbook case of success. But behind the lippy and the armour, I was one of those women: worn out, brittle, burned out, frustrated, and teetering on the brink. In my early 40s, with over two decades of service in the public sector – degrees, diplomas, a bustling household, and seemingly never-ending organisational upheaval – I found myself shattered, nearly shattering. I was knackered. There had to be more to life than this, right? More than permanent exhaustion, the marvels of menopause, juggling the demands of family and home, and waking up at 3 am wondering if this work and life, that I had worked so hard for, was it?

I stepped away from public service and dove into entrepreneurship over 10 years ago. Along the way, I navigated an amicable divorce, single parenthood, and a joyful re-entry into marriage. In my early 50’s, I discovered that I am AuDHD and things started to make more sense!

When I’m not working, I’m usually walking the riot of labrador, driving the teenagers around, trying to understand the rules of golf, painting, writing or reading. I sometimes exhibit and sell my art work, and have self-published a couple of short stories.

My Mission

My Mission

I founded Sarah Clein Consultancy and Coaching to do the work I love. To help public sector women like you, to prevent burnout and create enough midlife mojo to lead better or leave well.

My experiences – both professional and deeply personal ones – have culminated in coaching that works for women like us.

This is not just a coaching business; it’s a place where my previous counselling work, business consultancy, mentoring, coaching expertise and life lessons come together, enabling me to support others to manage the midlife cluster fluff, and create enough energy biscuits to enjoy their lives and their work again.

“I have a strong robust action plan in hand to progress. This is really useful as it allowed me to think of all aspects of the next phase of my working life and how to best support others around me. Coaching added to this as I will deliver a better outcome to staff now I've discussed and planned with you.“

NHS Head of Service

“Coaching provided me with the space I needed to consider how I managed the transition, it provided a supportive space to work through challenges, ideas and next steps and it provided me with some structure to work towards via the action planning process. As it took place over nine months it also gave me an opportunity to reflect back on my journey, consider where I'd started, how I felt then compared to now and identify the progress I'd made.“

Civil Servant

“Coaching has given me time to explore where I'm at and who I want to be and to start putting some changes in practice. I'm optimistic for the future that I can develop and continue to learn and that I've helpful ideas, steer and a plan for taking that forward..“

The Experience to Supply the Right Tools

Equipped with the right tools, coaching, and goals, I’m living proof that you can design a career and live a life that not only positively impacts the people you work with but provides meaning, a sense of purpose, fulfilment and joy.

Initially training for three years and then working as a counsellor, I re-trained as a coach in 2019. I am an International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach, and have trained in group and team coaching as well as to work 1-1. I am also trained to carry out DISC and EQi-2.0 assessments. I undertake regular training and development as well as professional supervision for my work. I am  a coach supervisor and am currently undertaking a course to learn more about burnout. I mentor other coaches in marketing and also train and facilitate on leadership development programmes. As well as my own confirmation of AuDHD, I have worked with many clients who are neurodivergent, both self-identified and confirmed by somebody else.
